About SafeCheck
SafeCheck is a free drug interaction checker powered by FDA public data. It helps consumers understand potential interactions between their medications using information from FDA-approved drug labeling.
Data Sources
- Drug interactions: openFDA Drug Labeling API — FDA-approved drug labels containing interaction information
- Adverse events: openFDA FAERS API — FDA Adverse Event Reporting System
Medical Disclaimer
SafeCheck provides drug interaction information from FDA-approved product labeling (openFDA). This is for informational purposes only and is not medical advice. Always consult your healthcare provider before making medication decisions.
Adverse event reports submitted to FDA are voluntary and do not establish a causal relationship between a product and a reaction. The absence of an interaction in our database does not guarantee safety. Always consult your healthcare provider.
How It Works
- You enter the names of your medications
- SafeCheck retrieves the FDA-approved drug label for each medication
- The drug interaction sections are analyzed for mentions of your other medications
- AI generates a plain-English summary of any interactions found
- Results are displayed with links to the original FDA data
Limitations
- SafeCheck only covers drugs with FDA-approved labeling in the openFDA database
- Supplements, herbs, and OTC products may not be fully covered
- New drugs or recently updated labels may not be reflected immediately
- AI-generated summaries are reviewed for quality but may contain simplifications
